It may not be St. Charles Avenue or the French Quarter, but if you’re ready to get your Mardi Gras on — and can’t get away to the Big Easy — Nashville has a roster of Carnival-themed events to satisfy your need for beads, music and revelry.
Fat Tuesday is next week, and Music City’s Mardi Gras lineup includes plenty of fun, food and music. So grab a king cake at Bro’s, dig out your beads from that long-ago New Orleans road trip and put on your party attitude … ’cause it’s Mardi Gras y’all!
Mardi Gras Bar Crawl
Food, fun, beer and beads. It all starts at Tin Angel and continues to other bars on Demonbreun. Stops on the crawl include Dan McGuinness, South and Dawg House Saloon. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2-8 p.m. $25. You must check-in at Tin Angel no later than 4 p.m.
Dr. John & The Nite Trippers
If you want to be in the right place at the right time, be at War Memorial Auditorium on Fat Tuesday when legendary New Orleans native Dr. John rocks the house with his unique blend of rock, boogie woogie and blues. What better way to celebrate Mardi Gras outside New Orleans than with one of her favorite native sons? Tuesday, Feb. 17, 8 p.m. Tickets start at $29.
Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar Extravaganza & Crawfish Boil
There’s nothing like authentic New Orleans food and music to put you in the Mardi Gras mood, so head on over to historic Printers Alley and sample some boiled crawfish and hot blues. Music from Stacy Mitchhart, the Al Holbrook Band, Delicious Blues Stew and others. Plenty of beads, games, prizes and drink specials to help you pass a good time. Tuesday, Feb. 17. Fun starts at noon and goes until the wee hours.
Les Kerr & The Bayou Band
Join Nashville’s Les Kerr for his band’s 24th annual Fat Tuesday celebration at the legendary Bluebird Café. Tuesday, Feb. 17. $12 cover. $7 food/drink minimum per person. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.; show starts at 9. Limited seats available in advance; others are first-come, first-serve, so arrive early.
