Free Concerts in Nashville

Free Concerts Series: Live on the Green

One of the biggest events of Nashville’s indie scene is only a week away and sweet-cuppin’ cakes am I excited!

Live on the Green 2014 is the fifth staging of the music festival that’s full of great bands, great food and great times. Each summer, a slew of bands are invited to play a live show smack-dab in the heart of downtown Nashville. The venue is the beautiful Public Square Park, just a stone’s throw away from the Cumberland River and nestled right next to the grandiose Metropolitan Courthouse.

Food trucks and vendor tents will be packed along Deadrick St. and 3rd Ave. N, meaning you can munch on the delicious flavors of local Nashville while checking each band’s merch booth. And hey, what’s a free music festival without good beer? Opposite the main stage, a craft beer garden will be there to provide your taste buds with heavenly craft beers brewed by local and other microbreweries.

The best part of it all: it’s absolutely free.

Not the concessions or vendors, of course. You have to buy that stuff yourself, sucka’. The overall event, though, has no cover charge. If you were looking to find some free music in Nashville, well, you lucky little rapscallion, you found it. You’ll be able to jam with a crowd of cool kids for the same price as sitting at home, wishing you could afford to do something fun.

Each year, Live on the Green brings in big international names as well as mixing in some of Nashville’s own local talent. Just take a look at this year’s lineup and you’ll see why it’s got me all giddy and giggly.

If VIP and backstage tickets are your kind of thing (and in your budget), head on over to Live on the Green’s website and check their store. While the general admission of the shows are free, the VIP tickets will grant you access to a VIP watching area, complete with food, drinks, private restrooms and a kitten play area (Ok, ok, I made that last one up, but I would totally drop the money for a VIP ticket if kittens were involved).

Also, if you’re new in town, give the local radio station 100.1 FM – Lightning 100 a listen. They’re the cool guys hosting the four-week event, so show them some love and play their tunes. With green grass and a personal mission of green sustainability standards, Live on the Green 2014 is going to be one kickin’ party.
